These gloves are perfect for technical fencing, and provide a balance between protection and mobility.
Very supple and dexterous, they are ideal for sabre, messer, dussack and rapier.
We also recommend them for shield work (buckler, viking, heater). While light, they can be used for controlled training at longsword.
Our Carbon Gloves are available in two versions:
- The short glove which just covers the wrist
- The long glove, which covers the forearm to the elbow and is tailored to fit over a HEMA jacket.

I ordered these gloves because I needed a slight upgrade to the protection offered by simple padded gloves during rapier sparring. For this they have proven to be perfectly adequate. I haven't noticed any of the rapid wear and tear another review has mentioned. Protection around the wrist and thumb area is a little light, but is adequate elsewhere. The forearm part of the glove fits snugly over my Spes jacket and has deflected a number of blows with no damage to the reinforced parts and no pain suffered.

Good protection against blunt weapons on hand and forearm, but the wrist is not protected at all.

Both of the gloves had seams and material torn within the first couple hours of technical training and light sparring. Not built for purpose. I contacted Black Armoury immediately and they never got back to me. It has been several months since I emailed them with the issue.
