Partisan MK1 - ARCEM by AUDEO

ARCM-S-SP-PARTI-1

In Stock

Prix €62.50

This partisan is based on an example from early 16th century Italy. Similar models were used throughout Europe.

With its 87 cm total length and 65 cm blade, and to maintain the rigidity necessary for the proper application of techniques, we have opted for a new material that is more rigid than our other polearm simulators. This gives the synthetic simulator dynamic characteristics very close to steel.

Please note that the points on this simulator are intentionally NOT thickened. If you intend to use them in harness with a risk of passing through the visor, we recommend that you blunt the tips as you would on your steel simulators. A specific blunt is under development.

We recommend that you mount this simulator on a 3 cm octagonal shaft, and to add a blunt thrusting tip to the heel - both also sold on our site.A round shaft is also possible. Please note that some shaping of the haft, over la length of 23 cm, will be required to get the proper taper for mounting.

Please note: this model is designed so that the socket has an internal diameter of 27 mm and an external diameter of 30 mm, so that it is flush with the surface of the shaft as on the historical models. You will have to work the shaft to mount the head on it.

I bought this for SCA rapier combat. It is definitely too stiff for that. I could see it being okay for more vigorous HEMA combat.

Love the stiffness but am looking forward to the blunt being developed as the thrust doesn't have any despersement of energy.

I tried to stab on a gambeson to see the rigidity and flexibility of one of the partisans. The very first partisan I have tried instantaneously snapped with a sound of broken branch. Now I am afraid to try other ones in the same way and I am pretty sure that they will snap with any thrust. Each piece has certain waves and veins on it creating weak spots. Also, rigidity of each piece is different, one of them is almost floppy like a synthetic longsword, I don’t have confidence to try but it looks like it can easily withstand a 90+ degrees bending, the other feels like Arcem Syntactic Halberd that a friend of mine has, most rigid one is one that snapped, bent was barely 20-degree angle. That is enough to be broken even during slow work if your partner takes a step forward. The plastic of the broken pieces is not homogeneous and there is clearly a piece of white/translucent plastic inside of it.

Glad to be among the first to try these - I think they will be a hit in the US both with SCA C&T armor-as-worn fencers and HEMA Harnischfechten. Thank you, Black Armoury!
